Around 70 train drivers working for Great Western Railway (GWR) joined the second national train drivers strike, organised by the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen (ASLEF).

The Chipping Norton Labour Party members showed particular support to drivers that work on the Cotswold line which runs between Oxford and Hereford and stops at Moreton-in-Marsh, Charlbury and Kingham stations all of which are less than 10 miles from Chipping Norton.

The chair of the Chipping Norton Labour Party, Steve Akers, said the workers deserved better, adding: “Chippy Labour Party and our councillors are long-time supporters and passionate advocates of the Cotswold Line.

“That’s why we were so pleased to support our local train drivers and will continue to do so until they get a just settlement.”
