Online retailer Hearing Aid Accessories has announced the release of a unique mobile app dedicated to hearing health news and products in time for Deaf Awareness Week, from 2-8 May 2022.

Online retailer Hearing Aid Accessories has announced the release of a unique mobile app dedicated to hearing health news and products in time for Deaf Awareness Week, from 2-8 May 2022.
Designed specifically for those who suffer, or who are at risk, from hearing loss, the app is something of a “watershed moment” for the 11 million people in the UK currently living with hearing-related conditions, according to the retailer, as it enables them to place orders on their phone without needing to visit a store or open their computer.
The app aims to be a comprehensive repository of both products and information alike associated with hearing health. So, whether it’s bespoke hearing protection designed specifically for musicians or industry workers, a brand-specific hearing aid dehumidifier, a high-tech TV streamer or just a simple set of new wax guards for a hearing device, the app has it included.

It is the brainchild of CEO Samantha Bennett, a fully trained and qualified audiologist with more than two decades of experience taking care of people with hearing loss.
Sam drew from her personal as well as her professional life as her husband Ben has had to deal with hearing loss for nearly 30 years due to his time spent in the Armed Forces. Her experiences with Ben have helped inform the rest of her career, and this latest project is no different:
Samantha commented: “It’s amazing to think that so much is invested on relatively frivolous things like games apps, and yet we have one in six people in the UK with hearing loss and no app out there to cater their needs.
“I think the pandemic really highlighted the need to be able to access replacement parts online. Hospitals were discouraging patients from entering and shops were closed: they had nowhere else to go. Although the period was undeniably good for business, it shows you that there is a real need out there that isn’t being fulfilled.”
Available on both iOS and Android through the Apple and Google Store from May 4th onwards, the app will also offer 10 per cent off the first purchase across Hearing Aid Accessories’ entire extensive range of products for those who pre-register.
Another app to help save time for hearing-impaired people was launched last August. Hearing aids manufacturer Widex introduced a new mobile app feature called ‘My Guide’, a feature which aims to “empower hearing aid users” with advice on how to maximise the comfort, performance and utility of their hearing aid devices after an initial fitting.
